Who we are

Place Finance Lab is a research and incubation initiative working on financial innovation for regional food systems in Europe and the UK. The Lab is currently incubated at Climate KIC. If you have any questions about this policy or about how your data is handled, contact hello@thomasslattery.com.

What information we collect

We only collect information you give us directly through the forms on this site:

  • Your name, when you complete the mailing-list or report-download form.
  • Your email address, when you complete the mailing-list or report-download form.
  • Your consent (i.e. the fact that you ticked the consent checkbox), along with the timestamp of submission.

Submissions are processed and stored by our hosting provider, Netlify (forms backend), which also records the submission's timestamp and the IP address it came from for spam protection. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies on this site beyond what is strictly necessary to serve the page.

Why we collect it

We use the information you provide for the specific purposes you've consented to when you submit the form:

  • To send you the May 2026 research report when you request the download.
  • To send you occasional updates about the Lab's projects, new research, and opportunities to partner, if you have signed up to our mailing list.
  • To respond to direct enquiries you send us by email.

We do not sell, rent, or share your details with third parties for marketing purposes. We will only share your data when legally required (for example, in response to a lawful request from a regulator) or with vendors strictly necessary to run the service — namely Netlify, who acts as our data processor for form submissions.

Legal basis (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

Our legal basis for processing your personal data is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR / EU GDPR), given when you tick the consent checkbox and submit one of our forms.

You can withdraw your consent at any time — see Your rights below. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect the lawfulness of any processing we did before you withdrew it.

How long we keep it

We keep your details for as long as you want to hear from us. If you ask to be removed from our mailing list, or you ask us to delete your details, we delete them from Netlify's submission records within 30 days of receiving your request.

If we don't hear from you and you don't open any of our emails for an extended period (typically two years), we may remove you from our list as a matter of housekeeping.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Delete your data (the "right to be forgotten").
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Object to our processing, or ask us to restrict it.
  • Receive a portable copy of the data you've given us.
  • Complain to a supervisory authority — for users in the UK that's the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EU, your national data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@thomasslattery.com. We'll respond within one calendar month.

Cookies

This site does not set tracking, analytics, or marketing cookies. Our hosting provider Netlify may set strictly-necessary cookies to operate the site and protect against abuse; these are not used to track you across other websites.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how your data is used, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the change is material, notify subscribers by email.
